I once owned a gift basket business, so I’m no stranger to “collected” gifts. In the 10 years I had the store I made coffee baskets, tea baskets, pasta dinner baskets, chocoholic baskets – you name it, I probably made hundreds if not thousands of them. So….it’s been a while since I’ve come across an idea I haven’t seen a million times before.
That is, until a couple of weeks ago when I stumbled on THIS post from Jessica at Fabtabulosity. I love the idea of giving a pretty drink dispenser plus all the ingredients to make a fabulous winter sangria.
Because who doesn’t love sangria???
For my version, I used THIS recipe from Jerry James Stone because it sounded yummy and Jerry James is pretty funny dude.
I put all the ingredients into the drink dispenser and tied it up with a big bow, a wooden spoon and a cute recipe card that I made using PicMonkey. It was easy and fun to put together and it came out great!
A few handy tips:
- Color coordination is everything when it comes to pulling together a good looking gift basket or package. Since I was working with red and green apples, fresh cranberries and rosemary, I chose a wine bottle and ribbon that included those shades of red and green.
- If you’re storing your supplies in the fridge, let them come to room temperature before you close up your dispenser. You want the moisture to evaporate, otherwise you’ll end up with condensation on the inside of the glass….and you’re not making a terrarium here.
- Be sure to choose a decent sized dispenser so you can fit everything in.
- Once you’re happy with how it looks, secure the lid with a few pieces of clear packing tape so it can travel without falling off and breaking.
Isn’t that a fun gift?
