I’m in the home stretch of pulling together a whole bunch of DIY Halloween decor for one of my restaurant clients, and today I’m sharing 5 FAST Thrift Store Fixes you can throw together with supplies from your local thrift or ReStore.
Silver Trays – every thrift store I have ever been in has a stack of these somewhere. They make an awesome base for spooky table decor if you’re going for a vintage look.
Small silver and glass pedestals – Also super easy to find. Grab a pedestal, top with a skull or creepy creature, throw a little Spanish moss around and you’re good to go.
I don’t know why Spanish moss adds instant creepiness to everything…but it does.
Cheese Domes – Sometimes they are everywhere, sometimes they are impossible to find. I lucked out and found 2 identical ones with marble bases at 2 different stores, but you could spray paint a wooden base if that’s what you’re working with.
I glued some pewter candlesticks (also from the thrift store) to the base with Liquid Nails, popped in a couple big spiders from the Dollar Store with a little Spanish moss and I’ve got a pair of fancy, creepy cloches.
Decanters – I found a few decanters without stoppers, but I solved the problem by adding corks and stoppers from other bottles. The fancy bottles don’t need anything else, you can add labels to the plainer ones. They make great potion bottles.
Ornate pots and urns – fancy pots and urns make a great base for an Edgar Allen Poe-esque spooky black tree. You can usually find these pots with a topiary that has seen better days, so pull out the top of the arrangement and salvage the base.
Stuff the pot with a floral foam and insert a black branch. You can spray paint a real one or watch for a sale on the fakes. Finish with a little Spanish moss and a dollar store raven.
And there you have it…5 Fast and Easy Halloween Decor Fixes with Thrift Store Finds. Our parties are happening today, so I get to put all of my fun DIY projects together and see the finished project. I can’t wait!
