After we made the pallet headboard for the spare bedroom, I was looking for something inexpensive and different to hang on the wall next to the bed. The DRG has a 10 year old son who visits us on weekends, so while the room is a guest bedroom, he is the most frequent visitor. I didn’t want to do anything childish – my mom stays with us on occasion – but I wanted it to be appropriate for the kid too.
Originally I tried doing something with clipboards (similar to this idea from Craft-o-Maniac), but I only had room for 2 and after looking at it for a couple of days, I decided I didn’t love it. I think in another room it would have worked great, but something about the clipboards hanging right next to the pallet headboard looked a little too DIY, you know what I mean?
I was wandering around Hobby Lobby one day and discovered their burlap wrapped frames back by the blank art canvases. I came up with the idea to attach a bulldog clip to each one and make my own clipboards:
I can switch out quotes, song lyrics, photos, pictures or other items as needed, which I love.
It would probably be really easy to make one of these yourself, either by wrapping burlap around a frame or even a piece of scrap wood, but they happened to be on sale the day I was in the store so I decided it made more sense to just buy them. The project came in at under $15.
(I printed up these quotes really quickly on my ancient black and white printer because I had company coming over – literally an hour before they arrived – but my goal is to put something a little more interesting up when I circle back to that room)
